The situation

When two start-ups, one with innovative processes to extract cannabinoids, the other with a license to grow cannabis, decided to merge, they required a new name and brand identity. This new, combined start-up needed their brand to be differentiated in a heated cannabis market where many medical cannabis companies are that in name only; their true interest lies in the recreational market.

Our actions

We developed many concepts for the new company name. Scientus Pharma was selected as their name because it firmly positioned the company as a science-based pharmaceutical brand; it just happens their raw material is derived from cannabis.

 

 

A new brand identity was created, with a new logo. The red triangle in the wordmark evokes one of Scientus’ key differentiators… the ability to deliver an exact dosage of cannabinoid profiles.

 

 

 

While science is central to what Scientus does, improving patients’ health and well-being is what drives the company. This was underscored by a series of illustrations commissioned for the overall look of the brand. The illustrations were used in both the web site and launch brochure we developed; They are also intended to be used in a variety of other applications as well.

We continue our work with Scientus, branding products for future launch.

 

The results

The brand identity was embraced by the company’s employees, with partner companies and others applauding the Scientus’ differentiated look. Six months after the company brand was launched, its capitalization efforts have proceeded beyond expectations, with a private placement netting nearly double its intended objective.
