Winding the year down, below are a number of brands that have been launched in the past few months. These include Verifone, Pizza Hut, About.com, Nasdaq, Mitel, and Outfront Media (formerly CBS Outdoors).

Verifone unveiled its new brand identity at the beginning of November, coinciding with their participation at a Las Vegas tradeshow. Verifone claims it is the leader in credit card-based products and services, including “mobile, countertop and self-service payment devices, software, and web-based gateways.” Based in San Jose, California, Verifone has 5,300 employees worldwide and boasts that it delivers its products and services in 150 countries.

About.com launched its new brand identity and web site this fall. This site is owned by IAC, a New York City-based media and Internet company that also owns, among others, Ask.com, Match.com, Urbanspoon and The Daily Beast. About.com is described, as “one of the largest online premium publishers of expert-created content.”

Nasdaq adopted its new brand identity this fall, without fanfare. As the world’s first electronic stock market, New York City-based Nasdaq boasts it is home to more than 3,400 listed companies with a market value of over $8.5 trillion.

Mitel, based in Ottawa, rebranded this past fall. Originally a telephone systems company, Mitel now boasts that they “provide phone systems, collaboration and contact center solutions—in the cloud or on site—for more than 60 million users around the world… powering more than 2 billion connections every day.”

Allied Vision Technologies abbreviated its name to Allied Vision and launched its new brand identity this past November. Manufacturing cameras for industrial inspection, science, medicine, traffic monitoring and other digital imaging applications, the company is based in Germany and also has operations in the United States, Canada, Singapore and China.

Spun-off from CBS, CBS Outdoors launched its new name and brand identity in November. Now called Outfront Media, they claim to be the leader in the American out-of-home advertising, and one of the largest in North America, with billboards and transit advertising in over 180 cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Orc International launched its new brand identity this fall. With 17 offices around the world (including 9 in the United States), the company claims it is a “leader in the art of business intelligence. (They) help companies explore, navigate and integrate insights to uncover what truly engages people around the world.” Orc International has its headquarters in Princeton, NJ.

Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., last month launched its new menu items, including new pizzas, by rebranding the whole organization. A new logo was introduced alongside new packaging, a revamped web site, “all the way down to (the) uniforms.” Based in Plano, Texas (north of Dallas), Pizza Hut boasts of $12 billion in global sales and more than 15,000 restaurants in 93 countries worldwide.

Vertafore launched an updated brand identity this autumn. The company provides cloud-based insurance software and related services. Bothell, Washington-based Vertafore claims it has the largest customer base in the industry with more than 20,000 agencies and carriers using its products and services.
