Companies often use the new calendar year to launch their new brands. Other than the first company, the following are all companies that launched their brands in Janaury.

This German-based company unveiled its new brand identity in mid-November. With about 155,000 employees in nearly 80 countries, thyssen krupp describes itself as “a diversified industrial group with traditional strengths in materials and a growing share of capital goods and services businesses.” Its businesses include automotive parts, elevators and steel.

With the acquisition of Chubb Insurance by ACE Limited completed mid-January, the company has rebranded, adopting the Chubb name. They state that Chubb is the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company, with operations in 54 countries. They have about 30,000 employees worldwide and have their headquarters in Zurich, (and they state) with executive offices in New York, London and elsewhere.

Frontier Communications launched their new brand identity at the beginning of January. They offer a wide range of telecommunications services, including broadband, voice, video, wireless internet data access, and data security solutions to residential and business customers in 28 states, from Connecticut to California.

Gund, the plush stuffed animal company, launched its new brand identity towards the middle of January. Based in Edison, New Jersey, this 118-year old company distributes its toys throughout the United States and Canada as well as in Europe, Japan, Australia, and South America.

Pearson, a 150-year old company, launched its new brand identity at the beginning of January. Describing itself as “the world’s largest education company”, Pearson publishes textbooks and digital learning tools for schools from the elementary grades to professional schools. It also owns an English language school, as well as 47% of Penguin Random House. Based in London, Pearson employs 40,000 people in 70 countries.

ServiceMaster launched its new brand identity mid-January. They describe themselves as “a leading provider of essential residential and commercial services, operating through an extensive service network of more than 8,000 company-owned, franchised and licensed locations.” Among the services offered are residential cleaning (Merry Maids), janitorial (ServiceMaster Clean) and pest control (Terminix). Headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, the company states it operates in more than 25 countries, and has 13,000 employees, 33,00 franchise employees, 11,000 home-service contractors and 45,000 service technicians.
